Excellent Inspection Report for Caldicott School

16 September 2017

Caldicott is celebrating after being been judged as “Excellent” in both the quality of pupils’ academic and other achievements category and also in the quality of the pupils’ personal development category in its recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection which took place at the end of the Summer Term 2017.

The purpose of an ISI Inspection is to provide a full account of a school’s provision including quality of teaching, pupil achievement, pastoral care, curricular, and extra-curricular provision.  The rating of "Excellent" is equivalent of an “outstanding” Ofsted grade.

The report confirms that the school fully meets its aim to “develop boys’ potential academically” which they say, “is partly due to the exemplary attitudes of pupils and their overwhelming enthusiasm, as well as excellent teaching and well-planned lessons.”

The report recognises particular strengths in the curriculum with teaching staff having “a strong understanding of the preparation needed” for Common Entrance and Scholarships where boys regularly achieve top grades.  Sport and creative arts were also praised with boys achieving “high standards” in these areas.

Highlights in the report also include the boys “infectious enthusiasm” towards extra-curricular activities in which they are all encouraged to take part. The inspectors found the Activities to be a “well planned, cultural and leisure programme”.

Acting Head, Theroshene Naidoo, said, “We are very pleased with the result of the ISI Report and its positive reflection of the quality of education at Caldicott. The boys’ achievements and personal development found in the report are a true testament to the dedication of all our staff, parents, and the boys themselves. "Excellent" is by no means an excuse to sit back and relax, but rather an incentive to strive for better this year. As a school, we are ready to challenge ourselves to do more so that Caldicott continues to thrive as an excellent prep school.”
