Andy McNab visits Caldicott

01 November 2017

Author and former SAS operative Andy McNab visited Caldicott this week to talk to the 5th and 6th Form boys and parents about his careers in the army and being an author.

He spoke about how he went from a juvenile detention centre when he was a teenager, to training with the army and eventually joining the Special Air Service.  After hearing stories from his time in Northern Ireland and Iraq, McNab told the boys that one of the most important things that they can do is learn and gain enough knowledge that will lead them to become successful in the future.

McNab is the author of Bravo Two Zero and many other novels based on his time in the army including the Nick Stone series and Boy Soldier books.  He has also assisted on scripts for films and computer games.

It was a great experience for the boys to listen to McNab's stories about how his experiences have led him to be an author and public speaker.  At the end of the talk, he took questions from the floor and gave the audience an opportunity to meet him and have their books signed.
