Thanks to Richard Atkinson, who sent the following pictures of their Beaujolais run, described last week.
We had a memorable and wonderful trip and raised, with the help of the school and parents, over £3,500 in total.
Some pictures below. Just remember - look for the Morris Minor (it were a posh car when aaaah were a lad!).
Waiting for the start at Goodwood motor circuit in the dark on Tuesday morning.
That’s a Porsche 911 behind us, and a very rare DeLorean (Back to the Future) just beyond. We had a thirty minute head start – and we needed every minute.
Chasing some of the modern cars along the ramps to board the Shuttle under the Channel.
Day 3 had to be completed in costume as we navigated through France from Reims to Macon. The people of the small town of Merrey-sur-Arce were surprised to find President Reagan, Maggie Thatcher, several Musketeers, the Pope, Jesus Christ, the Pink Panther, Robin Hood and Maid Marion, Saladin, John Steed and Emma Peel gathered in the town square taking pictures of the church.
![]() The new Beaujolais wine was released at a huge street party in the town of Beaujeu at midnight on Wednesday. We were there enjoying the fireworks, the dancing, some free wine – and getting incredibly cold.
![]() Heather is chatting to the editor of “Classics Monthly” monthly magazine, his photographer and another contestant. The cars are a silver Aston Martin – as driven by Bond in Goldfinger – and a red Jaguar XK120. Very flashy, but apparently not very comfortable for Graham, its driver, especially when rain came in and soaked his maps!
The Aston Martin, Moggins, the Porsche 911, and a Lotus parked by the pits at the old Reims motor circuit.
