Just Give Them an Arctic Roll!

 - and a Christmas Cracker!

That's right!  Don't slave over a hot oven for hours. A packet of Christmas Crackers and a couple of Arctic Rolls from the freezer, and in a few minutes you can relax for the rest of the day, knowing that everyone is happy. Well, the children anyway!

Today the day boys had their Christmas Lunch.
Some of the Third Form wrote about it for five minutes - here are their comments.

Get the food on the tables - the boys are coming in!

I had an outstanding Christmas lunch today at school. I enjoyed the Christmas crackers most. The only thing left was the hat.  But what I really liked was the Arctic roll for pudding.

At the Christmas lunch today we had millions of types of food and some of them were: Pigs in Blanket, Roast  Potatoes, Turkey and Arctic roll. The best thing that I really liked was the crackers and the Arctic Roll.

G Atkinson (9.06)

The Christmas lunch today was fantastic. I especially liked the pigs in bacon and in my cracker I got a red paper crown and three poker cards that when you turned them over they where the same. The funniest thing that happened on my table was when G Atkinson poured the orange squash all over the table. For pudding I had chocolate Arctic roll.

G Beard (9.08)

I sat down and we got to lunch straight away. Sir piled turkey onto my plate and potatoes and when I got my plate I put gravy onto my plate. I pulled crackers with Z Redgrave and I got sellotape.

E Curtis (9.05)

At first I went to the vegetarian queue where I always go since I am a vegetarian. When I sat down I reached for my Christmas cracker and pulled it with A Nicol.  The others had pigs in blankets and turkey with carrots and peas,  but I had a cheese pie and roast potato with carrots and peas. We also had squash instead of water as we always have. I really enjoyed it and it was great!

The best part was when I was playing with the top I got in my Christmas cracker.  The dessert we had was Arctic Roll. I had a Great Time!

Today I had an amazing lunch. We had turkey and sausages wrapped in bacon, and roast potatoes with peas and baby carrots. And the thing I found amusing was Horatio and Rajan. In their cracker was a spinning top and they had a competition as to who could spin for the longest. Rajan span and when it stopped Horatio span and he said he won!

S Morrisroe (9.08)

On the Sixth of December I had a lovely Christmas dinner. First of all we had grace and sat down. My favourite part of the lunch was when Horatio and Rajan had a spinning top competition and Rajan’s spinning top flew off the table.

A Nicol (9.10)

The Christmas lunch today was brilliant. We had roast potato, peas, baked carrot, pigs in blanket and turkey and the pudding was deeeeeelish! The most amusing thing was pulling the small Christmas crackers with small toys inside after Grace. I think the only bad part was that I got a rubbish toy inside the Christmas cracker. But it was still an AMAZING lunch.

I had a sausage wrapped in bacon and pork, potato and vegetables and a satsuma. I traded my magic cards for tape and I tied sir’s fingers together. It looked like a gun!

Z Redgrave (9.09)

My Christmas lunch was super. The lunch was turkey and pigs wrapped in blankets. My favourite part was the crackers. In the crackers I got a spinning top and a lip whistle, and the pudding was Arctic roll.

H Scott Lyon (9.06)

We had a lovely lunch. It was sausages wrapped in bacon, and we had turkey. My favourite part was the crackers, but I got a bad toy. The best food was the Arctic roll. It was super. Sir took a picture of me.

My Postscript

Thanks so much to all the kitchen staff and chefs. They have to cook two Christmas dinners - one for the day boys, and the big one for the Boarders' Christmas Party on the last evening of term. The meal today would have graced any restaurant. Just wish the Arctic roll hadn't had so many mentions!
