 12th February 2008

Before the concert, the Centenary Hall was a hive of activity, with JEMW conducting the movements of everything that had a pulse within the hall. With plenty of parents expecting their sons to perform magnificently, you could almost hear the butterflies in the boys’ stomachs. Despite the tension, the boys did tremendously well, with instrumental groups showing what they could do. The audience applauded when the first group got the ball rolling, and I’m sure that JEMW and any other staff who were involved were very happy with how it went.

Classical music was played, like the Pink Panther and of course – I Shot the Sheriff - by Bob Marley, which must have stirred some of the music within the depths of the audience. The boys pulled it off, one by one, and soon we were well under way, with music ranging from Mozart to jazz. Some groups played without the aid of teachers, as some teachers were required because some of the boys in the groups had not been able to perform.

There was a lot of variety, and I hope that JEMW and all the other musical staff were content with the way that the boys performed.
