This was the last Assembly of term, and there were lots of presentations, appointments and awards.

First, Mr Smith asked the Headmaster to present some maths certificates or medals.

  • Primary Maths Challenge: H Kanabar & J Kim won Silver medals in this National competition
  • Intermediate Maths Challenge: This is a competition for boys in senior schools, so a year older than our Sixth Form. D Jackson & M Goswami-Myerscough each won Silver certificates, and C You had a Gold.

Karate has been an activity taken this term as part of the games carousel. The following received the Advanced White Belt: G Atkinson, W Blackmore, G Chilvers, F Eglinton, P George, H Kanabar, R Mendis, A Nicol, F Reding-Reuter, G Simpson, E Thayan, L Wright

Thanks to Mr Adams for writing this, about the PE lessons the boys have been enjoying this term:

In PE this term we have been doing gymnastics. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd for have done sequence work and floor routines, and the older boys have been doing work with apparatus, or vaulting. The most improved gymnast award has gone to one boy in each form. This is for hard work, enthusiasm and rate of progress.

Then the appointments for next term were read out:

  • Cricket: Captain T Morgan, Vice-Captain T Swift
  • Athletics: Y Belo
  • Swimming: T Curzon

The Assembly concluded with a touch of sadness. Mr Elcombe, who has been an excellent 'gap student', is leaving at the end of term. He was presented with his usual 'report' form the staff, a print of Caldicott, and some books to read. He received a fantastc round of applause - and very well-deserved.
