House Shout 2017

16 October 2017

The annual Caldicott House Shout raised the roof in Centenary Hall recently as all four Houses sang to impress the judges.

The House songs included:

  • McArthur with “To Make You Feel My Love” by Bob Dylan.
  • Cooper with “On Top of the World” by Imagination Dragons.
  • Jenkins with “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”.
  • Wood with “Africa” by Toto.

The judges were looking at a variety of elements in five categories for each performance: musical accuracy, looking at the timing of the rhythms and pitch of notes; cohesion of the performance, which included the overall timing and coordination; presentation and organisation of the performance; communication with the audience and how the piece was delivered; and finally the entertainment value.

Each performance was fantastic and the final scores were very close.  They were as follows:

  • Joint third – Cooper and Jenkins with 121 points
  • Second – McArthur with 123 points
  • First – Wood with 138 points
