You may remember the Sponsored Swim ran by Ma'am Bisschop in 2009. We intended to swim the length of the Channel (in our safe swimming pool, of course!), but actually did considerably more.

All welcome
All ages and abilities welcome - scenes from the previous Sponsored Swim

This time Ma'am Kroiter has organised another one, supporting the Lord's Taverners on the whole Saturday, and the Sunday morning of the fete and, indeed, in a few sessions afterwards. Our target was to swim the distance from Kate Middleton’s home in Bucklebury to Buckingham Palace (AND BACK!). This is a total of 168km.

The Lord's Taverners is a great charity: I am sure that they will forgive me quoting from their website:

'... we have developed into both a vibrant Club and a Charity. We have thousands of members who all share a love of cricket and a desire to ensure that as many children as possible, especially those with special needs, have the chance to participate in sport and recreation. We are recognised by the England and Wales Cricket Board as the official national charity for recreational cricket.'

Well, on Saturday and Sunday 21st & 22nd May Caldicott supported them. All boys took part, to their own level, of course - those not so secure in the water could use float aids, and those who were the 'stars' were counting the lengths they did! Parents, of course, wouldn't be so boastful ...
