ATHLETICS SPORTS - IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MR HANRAHAN

He reminded the boys that the closing time to sign up for events is 0800 tomorrow (Saturday). It is essential that it is done by then, otherwise the boys will have their events chosen for them.

Mr Baker told the boys about the Caldicott Premier League. The final will take place for the school on Main Field on Thursday. There will be a few surprises, including a star commentator and music! No more info for the moment - even I don't know!!!

Mr Fletcher spoke about the Caldicott Shield, the boys' newspaper. It is his Monday afternoon activity. All articles, jokes, anything of interest are welcome, emailed to JRRF. This is a paper 'Done by the boys, for the boys.'

At the end of the Assembly Mr Smith reminded the boys about the following:

  • Decoration should not be worn on wrists, unless for religious reasons. Those boys should see Mr Smith for permission. There will be no problem for genuine reasons.
  • Lots of visitors in the next couple of days. Hawkesdown House visiting today, and September new boys' Activity Morning tomorrow.

The Assembly ended with a reminder of where to put cricket bags, and that if any property is damaged it should be reported.

Tastes of the Orient!
Monday, 13 June 2011 18:48

Delicious, and eaten (mostly) with chopsticks!

I’ve been in this school for quite a long time but today was one of the best days at Caldicott. I came here from Korea and I haven’t been eating any Korean food. But today I couldn’t be happier because I experienced top-notch Korean food which made me feel on Top of the World. The beef and the chicken were expertly cooked. The sauce accompanied the meat perfectly which allowed me to enjoy it to its full potential. The noodles were sublime and it tasted like heaven. I cried, but not for the reason you think, because it was so hot. The kimchi (spicy marinated cabbage) was perfect and just like my mother makes it back in Korea. Finally there was the salad and although it was only a salad, you could taste how crispy it was and it was accompanied by a delicious sour sauce. The meal was capped off to a delicious end with a bowl of mango drenched in its own syrup. I would really like to thank Ma’am Granville who made all the food that made me very happy. 먹겠습니다 (tuck in!!).

Black Belt
Tuesday, 14 June 2011 09:11

Well done
Well done J Fennell (10-09) , above, who missed school on Saturday. He had a very good reason, however, as he was attending the presentation of his Black Belt for Taekwondo at Westgate School, where all of his lessons took place. It has involved an enormous amount of work since he was just five years old:

  • 45 minutes twice-weekly at Kick-Fit

In the last 6 months, to get the Black Belt:

  • Three 45-minute lessons weekly.
  • Teaching younger children
  • Extra sessions during the holidays
  • Practice sessions at home
  • Write an essay
  • Study for the theory test
  • Run
  • Press-ups and sit-ups
