Mr Smith took Assembly this morning, as the Headmaster had taken some Scholarship candidates to Wellington.
Before the regular awards, he congratulated T Ren on his Academic Scholarship to the City of London School. We had actually heard about this last Thursday, but it was received just too late for that assembly. Well done to him and our other two successful candidates so far, and best wishes to the others.

What do these mean? If a Superstar is awarded for really special work, the recipient shakes the Headmaster's (or Mr Smith's, today!) hand in Assembly and receives three pluses, and of course a round of applause from the staff and boys. If it is a Highly Commended - still extremely good work - those recipients remain seated, but get a round of applause and two pluses.
After the awards Mr Smith told everyone how lucky we are at Caldicott. We have fantastic pitches, and have had almost a full games season so far this month, when many other schools have had hardly any because their pitches have been waterlogged. A week ago several of ours were under water - but just a few days later they are among the best in the country. The ground staff do a fantastic job here, and he reminded the boys to thank them.
To conclude with pitches, Mr Chapman (Geography) sent the picture below, showing the final of the Terrington Hall Rugby Sevens tournament, where we won the shield. Their pitch looks good, but ours may be even better! In case you can't recognise the boys, thanks to him for identifying the players from such a distance!
