This term 5C have been exploring the Cambridge Latin Course and this morning they performed dramatisations of the story tonsor, which means 'the barber'. In groups they first translated the story from Latin into English and then produced a short sketch to demonstrate their understanding. The story takes place in the barber's shop in which Caecilius is waiting to have his beard trimmed. A poet enters the shop reciting rude verses and, shaking with anger, the barber accidentally cuts the old man with the razor; Caecilius flees in fear!

Group 1: L Gordon as tonsor (the barber), J Pickering as senex primus (first old man) and J Polturak as senex secundus (second old man).

Group 1: E Ang as Caecilius (the hero of the piece!)

Group 2: G Naylor as tonsor, F Mackaness as senex, N Cheung as Caecilius and G Moran Cantelar as poeta (the poet).

Group 3: W Prew as tonsor, O Ferneyhough as senex, J Trevino as Caecilius and J Granville as poeta.
Group 3 were brave enough to perform their sketch in Latin, including the rude verse! However a class vote saw Group 2 as the winners and they were each rewarded with a plus. |
This morning's assembly kicked off with a video of the 6th Form's French trip, which took place before half-term. C White told us that the video showed how much fun they had on the trip; and, added Mr Doggart, how much they learnt!
