Today Mr Paget spoke to me about the Sixth Form Divinity Projects.
The title has the word 'unusual' because he very rarely awards a Superstar for Divinity. In fact 'unique in the history of Caldicott' would be a more appropriate phrase: he has given quite a number which will be reported after the next Assembly.
For the moment, enjoy M Krakue's page, below (age 12.05) - it is the one Mr Paget was holding when I went in to his room. A brilliant page, and I am sure lots more are as good! Some to be published soon.

Yesterday (Thursday) there was no Assembly, as the boys were practising the House Shout. This is actually a singing competition for 3rd Forms and above, marked by enthusiasm and vigour: it is being adjudicated by Stephen Ilett, ex of Caldicott and now Headmaster of Milbourne Lodge School. Below is a picture of the Wood rehearsal of Sloop John B, famously performed by The Beach Boys in the sixties.

Today (Wednesday) was Jeans for Genes Day. The boys were able to wear home clothes for a small donation to this excellent charity which aims to fund research into support for victims of and research into genetic diseases in children. The day began with another House Shout rehearsal, below by McArthur. Afraid that, being of Wood persuasion, I don't know what they're singing: hopefully not We Are the Champions!
 This will surely be good!
Taken at break. Don't worry - the boys did lots of academic work during the day as well!

This afternoon Caldicott's first ever House Shout competition took place in the Centenary Hall. There were final rehearsals first thing this morning (thankfully the boys were more awake by 15.35!) and there was definite competitiveness in the air. Cooper were first up and gave an enthusiastic rendition of "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey, complete with actions and air guitar!

Next up were Jenkins singing the Beatles' "Hey Jude"; it opened with a solo by T. Lowe accompanied by Mr Wild on the piano.

Following them were McArthur, who also chose a song by the Beatles. W. Heywood sang the opening lines of "Help" with W. Pritchard on the cello and Mr Paget on the piano.

Finally Wood took to the stage with their energetic version of "Sloop John B" by the Beach Boys.

After a few moments of deliberation and some amusing anecdotes connected to each song, Mr Ilett gave feedback on each house's performance. Mr Doggart handed him the House Shout Tankard, to be presented to a member of the victorious house. Then, without any further ado, Mr Ilett announced that McArthur were the winners. W. Heywood came forward to accept the trophy:

Runners-up from Cooper accept the decision gracefully:

The third form began this morning's assembly by presenting details of their trip to Hampton Court Palace last week. M Von Lewinski, S Hack, O Bell, A Sangha, E Urashima, T Ward and G Perkins spoke of the gardens, the guided tour, the kitchens and the haunted gallery, all of which they enjoyed.
As there was no assembly last week, Mr Doggart had a staggering roll-over list of Superstars and Highly Commendeds to announce:

Mr Hurst told us all of a successful week of rugby, mentioning important hat-tricks by A Shoff and T Guan. There were also a few reminders from Mr Smith. Firstly, food is not to be taken from the dining room to eat elsewhere in the school buildings; food can only be eaten in the dining room or outside. Secondly, boys are not to play any chase games inside the school buildings or around the mini-buses for their own safety. Thirdly, boys should go down to games out of the back door of the changing room and not through the lobby.
Finally, a scan of E Pycroft's work, which won him his Divinity Superstar:
