Modern Languages

French is started in the 1st Form, when boys are immersed into the French language and culture through songs and language games. This continues until the 6th Form when they take Common Entrance or Scholarship papers to their public school.

The ethos of teaching is balanced between the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, with French being used as much as possible in the classroom.

Boys are also offered the opportunity to study both Italian and Spanish as extra-curricular activities. These language clubs are growing in popularity as boys enjoy the opportunity to learn some of the language basics, learn about the culture and perhaps have the chance to make their own pizzas.
