08 March 2019

The boys have put all their energies into completing this week in fine style, and it is the same for the teaching staff. With two major events and World Book Day, we have certainly added to the breadth of opportunities that Caldicott has to offer.

On Wednesday we hosted the 62nd Caldicott Senior Sevens tournament and I would like to thank you for your support and understanding with respect to how we managed the day. All the boarders were on show, with the feeling that they were worthy ambassadors for their school. Jobs were shared out and each boy had their part to play in making the event a success. The rugby was great too, and many of the referees commented very favourably about the Caldicott boys. All the staff had jobs, too, as it was a real team effort. Well done to the U13s who were runners-up in their tournament U12s who won theirs.

Thursday was World Book Day and we were delighted to host Frank Cottrell Boyce who spoke brilliantly to the boys. Ma’am Elson, our Librarian, promoted this important day tirelessly and all the boys had fun. That evening we all enjoyed the Spring Concert and Entertainment Evening during which the boys performed a glorious range of pieces from both music and drama, encapsulated by the 5th Form ‘Stomp’ style dance and music collaboration based on Romeo and Juliet. I was delighted to see so many parents in attendance – thank you for your support once again.

So as your sons relax this weekend, every boy can reflect on the last fortnight with broad grins on their faces. With all the opportunity of Project Week added to the events I describe here, each boy will have a twinkle in his eye. Defining ‘education’ as broadly as we do, will not only lead to the exam success we all want, but it will also offer each boy much, much more.

Have a good weekend.
