2nd Form Learn the Ropes of Adventure at PGL

23 April 2019

On Monday 25 March, 24 very excited 2nd Form boys travelled to the PGL activity centre at Marchants Hill in Hindhead, Surrey. There was great excitement amongst the boys about taking part in the many challenges and sharing a dorm for two nights. The group arrived to glorious sunshine and enjoyed their lunch outside before jumping straight into activities.

Archery, abseiling, using a zip wire, buggy building and survival skills were just some of the amazing opportunities on offer. The highlight for many of the boys was the Giant Swing, which required a great deal of work hoisting pairs of boys high into the air before dramatically releasing them – leading to some very amusing screams!

Resilience and perseverance were the targets for the trip and they were evident in abundance. For the accompanying teachers, it was a real pleasure to see the boys helping each other in the tasks and engaging in every part of the day with enthusiasm. The boys returned looking (and feeling) rather exhausted but it was all worth it.

Below are some comments from the boys:

  • “My favourite part of PGL was the zip wire.” – Leopold R
  • “It was really fun to be in the dorm with other people and sleeping in the cosy sleeping bags.” – Anand N
  • “I liked the giant swing because it was terrifying.” – Taro E
  • “I loved the giant swing because it was thrilling.” – Agastya A
