Caldicott’s Short Movie Competition

23 April 2020

Over the course of the Easter break, Head of Drama, Ma’am Duncan, set the boys a challenge to make a short movie.

There were no rules or genres and the film could include animation, live action or it could be in a documentary style. The possibilities for the boys were endless, and they came up with some fantastic ideas!

After much deliberation from Ma’am Duncan and guest judge, Mr Evans, the winners were as follows:

  • Senior School winner - Ben S | ‘Go away, go away, Covid-19’
  • Middle School winner - Toby W | ‘The Woolf Family Passover’
  • Lower School winner - Rafe G | ‘Corona Strikes’

Overall winner - Ben Stevens

The judges said ‘Ben's movie is simply superb! It is deeply moving and incredibly well executed. It is set to a poem about Covid-19 which he wrote himself. The poem was featured in the school newsletter last weekend. The animation has been painstakingly put together and we were thoroughly impressed with his drawing and animation skills. It gives us all a message of hope at a time when hope and unity are so very important.’

  • Connor L | ‘Escape By Train’
  • James F | ‘Lego action movie with no title’
  • Henry C | ‘The Good the Bad and the Poultry’
  • Teddy M | ‘Easter Holiday (how it should have been)’
