2nd Form Art Project | Tiger Surprised

07 May 2018

This project started as an investigation of basic colour theory where the boys spent some weeks mixing colours and learning about the colour wheel. Following our visit to the National Gallery last term, the boys began a focused study of the painting Surprised by Henri Rousseau. In their own work, the boys produced a careful drawing of a tiger and then used a combination of water soluble pencils and black ink to add colour. With their knowledge of colour theory, they then dyed paper different shades of green, using paint, to help produce the jungle element of their work. Finally, they assembled their picture using collage techniques.
