2nd Form Trip to the National Gallery

01 February 2019

The 2nd Form went to the National Gallery in London recently as part of their studies in the Art Room.

On arrival, the boys looked round the exhibits with Ma’am Williams and Ma’am Riddell. They were then taken on a guided tour with a member of the gallery staff to look at the various paintings in the collection. They paid particular attention to those pieces that showed different styles and techniques.

The boys saw paintings by various artists, but the works of Monet was closely looked at. These pieces of work complement their new topic this term, which covers colour theory and the effect of light in a picture.

As always, the National Gallery proved to be a very engaging place to visit. All the boys were very interested in what they saw and this prompted some great discussions in front of several paintings.
