Spring Concert 2019

08 March 2019

Caldicott was delighted to welcome parents and guests to its Spring Concert and Entertainment evening on Thursday 7 March with performances from many boys across the school.

The concert enthusiastically opened with three film soundtracks: the Chamber Orchestra with The Imperial March from Star Wars, 6th Form Guitars with the James Bond Theme and the Clarinet Trio playing Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter. This was a great opener to the concert and set the mood for more to come.

The concert included many different instruments and styles of music being played. Performances included Freddie B (4th Form) and Faris M (3rd Form) with their duet on the drums, Luca K (4th Form) with The Trout by Schubert on the guitar, Finn N (6th Form) with Flower Duet on the Saxophone, Ferdie G (6th Form) with A Kwela for Caitlin on the piano, Siewei F (5th Form) with Ode to Joy by Beethoven on the violin and the 4th Form and 5th Form Choir singing Dreamer and People Get Ready.

Performances did not just stop at music; the audience were also treated to dramatic presentations from Freddie M (5th Form) with St Crispin’s Day speech from Henry V, George T (5th Form) reciting the poem This is the Place by Toby Walsh and Jack H (6th Form) with his entertaining extract from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

The highlight of the evening was when Music and Drama came together for a Montague and Capulet showdown with percussion instruments and dance. A cross-curricular project where the boys explored the conflict between the two families in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

The evening highlighted many talented performers at Caldicott and the wonderful ensembles and activities that are becoming more and more popular to take part in. There is something for everyone and the boys are relishing in the opportunity for further performing arts opportunities at the school.
