The Library's Half Term Book & Exhibition Suggestions

25 May 2021

I hope everyone is healthy and happy and planning on reading lots over the May Half Term. Please do encourage the boys to read; especially before they go to bed. It is relaxing and helps them to switch off before they sleep. During exam periods children can see reading fiction as a luxury or something that they haven’t got time to do but they should be encouraged to do so. During stressful times reading has many health benefits such as lowering blood pressure and bringing about an inner sense of calm, as well as helping to lift ones mood. It has been shown that when reading it takes just 6 minutes to enter a relaxed state. So do encourage them to read story books, comics and to listen to audio books and re-reading favourite books can be especially comforting when worries threaten.

Enjoy the break.
