25 June 2021

Many thanks for all your words of support and encouragement as we plot a covid-safe route to the end of term. This past week has had upheaval and I am sure you, like me, note the escalation in positive cases. In order to manage expectations, we need to balance three considerations:

  • Ensure our system of controls to reduce the risk of transmission are key to our planning decisions so will curb our natural desire to do this the traditional way.

  • We will make the changes to reflect the delay to Step 4 of the UK Government’s reopening schedule.

  • We will share the landscape of transmission in the local area which will likely lead to further alterations to our plans for the last ten days of term.

Today is Sports Day and so I would like to thank all the staff for their contributions to making this event as good as it can be. The planning from Mr. Williams, the technology for Mr. Brown, the Grounds team and the staff have combined to deliver something memorable for the boys; after all, that is what it is all about.

Forgive the brevity of today’s message, but as I will be writing to you again soon to outline our plans for the end of term and Sports Day beckons, I must leave my desk.
