In the words of the Headmaster, “Saturday School allows us to be the school we want to be…”

It means the timetable can be cleverly and strategically paced so that boys are able to embrace a broad and varied curriculum, including plenty of daily physical activity, without compromise to academic rigour.

It also means that we can have a much more relaxed approach to homework than you will find in other schools. After working hard all week, we believe that boys should be free to enjoy unstructured time at home with their families, and therefore it is school policy not to set formal homework until 5th Form (Year 7), when it is completed in supervised prep sessions after school.

Saturday School starts from 3rd Form (Year 5), when there is a natural uplift in expectation as boys begin preparation for senior school tests, and they have the stamina and maturity to benefit from all it offers.
