At Caldicott, we prepare boys for a wide range of senior schools and work in partnership with parents to identify schools that will nurture the individual talents of each and every pupil.  Boys who have an aptitude for academic study and a very strong work ethic may be invited to extend their learning  through our  scholarship pathway .

A true scholar is not someone who merely performs well in exams, but has the mindset and drive to seize opportunities. They will demonstrate…

  • Intellectual Curiosity: an open mind with the ability to make connections.
  • Rigour: a willingness to persevere with difficult concepts and tasks.
  • Initiative: the self-motivation to work independently and to maximise all opportunities for learning.
  • Creativity: an ability to think ‘outside the box’.
  • Confidence: a self-assurance to show intellectual ability without arrogance.
  • Independence: a passion for learning that is self-motivated.

The process has two stages:

Stage 1: An invitation to the programme will be extended to boys in the Summer Term of 4th Form (Year 6) who display the intellectual qualities listed above.

Stage 2: Boys achieving an accepted level in baseline assessments in English, Maths and General Reasoning.

The process is slightly different in the Arts and for Sport…

Boys are evaluated and monitored from the moment they start at Caldicott in order to identify natural talent as these subjects require portfolios that take a few years to be put together.

For Sport Scholarships, candidates are required to be participating in a sport or two at least at County level.

Whether a boy embarks on an Academic, Arts or Sport Scholarship, full commitment is expected and they should always demonstrate the Caldicott values.
