With two Music Scholarships and an Academic Scholarship, it’s time to give duly deserved credit to three boys who are the newest Caldicott pupils to join our list of successful scholars. Their names will be forever engraved on Caldicott’s scholarship boards; congratulations Stanley X, Yasar Z, and Reuven H!

Only recently we shared the incredible news that Stanley earnt his ARSM diploma, entitling him to add the ‘ARSM’ post-nominals to his name. Therefore, earning a Music Scholarship at Eton should come as no big surprise. A representative from Eton said the following in his letter to Mr Banks: ‘The number of quality applications this year was extremely high, which makes his achievement even greater.’ Stanley was obviously thrilled with the news, sharing it first with his friend, Thomas, who gave him a big hug before congratulating him. He then phoned his mum to tell her; she was overjoyed. When asked how he thinks he managed to reach this achievement, he said, ‘throughout my time at Caldicott I’ve always felt like everyone believes in me which made me push myself harder.’ He went on to say the constant support from everyone at Caldicott has helped him attain his goal.

Yasar has also earnt himself a Music Scholarship, this time at Harrow. Mr Banks announced the good news to him during his French lesson which was met with a rousing applause from his peers! Yasar phoned his mum next and she expressed how proud she was, adding to his elation. Anyone who has heard Yasar perform in one of our many concerts and recitals will know his talent, but he explained that the hardest part of the process for him was learning all of the relevant music theory. Finally, he wanted to thank his friends for encouraging and motivating him when things got tough, as well as Mr Paget who supported him every day and always pushed him to work harder and not get complacent.

Last, but certainly not least, Reuven found out that he was successful in earning an Academic Scholarship at Clifton College in the midst of preparing for another scholarship! So, whilst he happily told his friends, and revelled in the positive feeling of his success, he was still focused on work. Reuven explained that he was confident throughout the application process, but admitted to some nerves before the interview with the Headmaster and Head of Academics. Ma’am Naidoo is credited as being the main reason for Reuven’s achievement, ‘I initially wasn’t confident, however after speaking to Ma’am Naidoo she encouraged me and told me I can do it’. Whilst sad to be leaving Caldicott and his friends, Reuven is excited about starting at his new school in September!
