Congratulations Alex F, who will be joining Harrow in September as an Art Scholar! His hard work, especially in the last few months, has truly paid off.

In a recent Art lesson (predicably Alex’s favourite lesson), Mr Banks and Ma’am Naidoo knocked on the door, igniting a flurry of excitement. Mr Banks then announced the good news to Alex before his class broke into applause! Alex was relieved, surprised and most of all ecstatic; the hard work had been worth it and he was finally reaping the rewards.

The hardest part of the assessment process, according to Alex himself, was creating the portfolio; he had to get together 15 pieces showcasing his skills, which meant a lot of time working away in the Art block at any available opportunity. The day at Harrow saw Alex complete a three-hour still life drawing amongst the other potential scholars, all striving towards the same objective – a prestigious scholarship at one of the country’s top schools. Alex thanked Mr Edwards and Ma’am King for their help throughout the scholarship process as well as his mum, who being artistically inclined herself, often helped with inspiration and encouragement.

While Alex will miss his friends (and the Caldicott rugby, he added wistfully), he is very excited to be starting at Harrow in September, and is looking forward to all the new experiences that will bring!
