Classics is a subject that many Caldicott boys find fascinating, and there are arguably no better cities in the world to experience what the curriculum teaches first-hand, than Rome.

Our boys returned from their trip enriched with knowledge and long-lasting memories of their amazing experience, which began when they left Caldicott on a minibus at the crack of dawn for an early flight at Heathrow. If you are following Caldicott on Instagram and Facebook, you will likely have already seen some incredible footage of what the boys got up to in Italy’s capital. But, if you weren’t so lucky, there are some photos at the bottom of this article!

The seven days abroad provided enough time for the Caldicott entourage to see and do more than can be listed in a single article. But, some of the highlights included: the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Vatican, the Colosseum, Hadrian’s Villa, Pompeii (and the peak of Mount Vesuvius!), as well as a tour of the island of Capri (fortunately coinciding with glorious sunshine). On the final day, the boys got to experience the atmosphere of the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium at a Napoli football match before heading home. While the boys enjoyed the game thoroughly, it certainly wasn’t Mr Di Maso’s best moment, as he watched his team humbled in a 3-0 loss…

Thanks to all the teachers who made sure the boys’ experience was nothing short of spectacular, but especially to Ma’am Hellings for organising the trip so well.
