Teaching Staff

Resident Sports Graduate Assistant

We have a great opportunity for a Resident Sports Graduate Assistant to start in September 2024, for the academic year 2024 - 2025. The role is intended to suit recent graduates who have an interest in pursuing a career in education or sports coaching: it is an ideal opportunity to assess whether a career in these fields is right for you. It will provide an all-encompassing experience of school life, working and living in the school alongside the other sports graduates and Gap Year Placement students. The work experience will be hugely varied, with opportunities to coach sport, support classroom and a wide range of extra-curricular activities.

Teacher of Entrepreneurship, Technology, Engineering and Computing (eTEC)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and inspirational eTEC teacher who has the skills and vision to enhance the eTEC department. This full time position is for a person who has a relevant degree and qualified teacher status. S/he will be an ambitious and energetic subject specialist who has the drive and commitment to build on the success we already have and promote innovation through STEM subjects. The eTEC teacher will focus on more modern manufacturing processes using CAD / CAM and on programmable electronics; promote the practical, investigative and creative skills required to understand and contribute to our technological world and encourage problem solving, decision making and independence through practical project work and design. The position requires experience of upper KS2/KS3 and the successful candidate will have: • outstanding subject knowledge, keeping abreast of latest developments in Engineering, Design, Technology, Computer Science and Coding/Programming; • demonstrable success in the teaching of coding, eg Raspberry Pi, and running a First Lego League programme; • the vision and ability to promote these subjects to pupils and parents alike; • a proven track record of success that would add to Caldicott’s academic culture; • excellent interpersonal skills, resilience, and the ability to work as a part of a collaborative team and • be equally at home teaching those who find the subject hard and those who work at a level above their age group; The ability to coach sport is also desirable and the successful candidate must show a desire to play a full and active role, including commitment to supporting this age range pastorally and being fully involved in boarding life and extra-curricular activities.

Support Staff

School Librarian

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced librarian to manage this core resource, provide a professional and friendly library service to pupils and staff alike and encourage and facilitate a love of reading. The successful candidate will develop our library not only as a hub where they want to learn, read, study and borrow resources but also to explore their creativity and imaginations. The successful candidate will be: • educated to degree level, ideally with a qualification in librarianship; • knowledgeable and enthusiastic about children’s literature; • collaborative with classroom teachers, providing effective curriculum support and developing pupils reading and referencing skills; • Committed to developing our safe and happy learning environment; • confident and comfortable with technology (the school uses Oliver Library Software) • innovative, with ideas for new initiatives to inspire pupils and develop the library; and • have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, resilience, and the ability to work as a part of a team.

Gap Year Placement Students

We have a rolling programme of one-year student placements for international students and Old Caldicotians who are looking for development opportunities as part of their gap year before going to university.
