So, the boys have made it to the holidays and if you are able to take time off to be with them, then I wish you a very happy time. It has been an extraordinary term and I risk causing upset if I single out particular achievements, so I will allow this newsletter and each edition over the previous 11 weeks to do all the talking. Enjoy.

We have said goodbye to Ma’am Piccard today and we wish her well with her new ventures. Ma’am Cook (who is French) joins us from a highly regarded prep school and the parents of her new classes have been told. Naturally, it is a time when career opportunities come along for colleagues and I’ll update you on two leavers and their successors when I write to you prior to the Summer Term. On that note, I am sure you are fully up to speed with the summer uniform; if not, then please check your emails and log into the parent portal.

It has been a good year for the admissions team and we are delighted that our offer resonates with parents. I’ve written and spoken about the targeted adaptations so many times so I’ll not revert into that mode here, but it may not surprise you that rumours fly around from time to time because of that success. May I squash the ‘going co-ed’ rumour that is circulating west London at the moment! I think Caldicott has every right to pat itself on the back every so often and so here goes – we strive hard to be the best, all-boy, boarding and day school. We think that this model is the perfect launchpad for success in life. From how our teachers teach lessons, to avoiding subconscious bias in favour of girls, to boys maintaining a wide range of interests (that in co-ed schools narrows to next to nothing), there are lots of reasons we are proud to be boys-only. Not least of of all the privilege that it is to be a part of a community that seeks fun and laughter as only boys can do. Your sons are perfectly placed to learn all the skills, traits and habits of success that will lead them to a life of significance in their chosen field. A normal world will be for them one day, but we’d argue that the all-boy environment is perfect for boys aged 7 to 13.

Enough! Everyone is tired, no one is 100% healthy and so let us go our separate ways for now and I look forward to seeing you for a Summer Term that is set to be a triumph. I can’t wait, but for now I need to get ski-fit! If you’re in Morzine in the second week of April, see you there.
