Our Soccer 6s tournament has been a fiercely contested one, filled with highs and lows and plenty of goals, all culminating in our grand final which took place on Tuesday afternoon. Complete with live commentary, music, and an excited crowd, it was quite the spectacle.

The Wexham Raiders faced the Farnham Royals in what was a match fraught with tension and passion, only added to by the crowd of boys who cheered on their chosen side from the touchline. After the national anthem was sung and the players shook hands, an enthralling game followed. Although it wasn’t without controversy, as referee Mr Blagden had to consult VAR for a penalty decision; the officials from the staff room confirmed the on field decision, and the penalty stood, resulting in the game ending 1-1 in normal time and being decided by a penalty shootout. Much like the rest of the tournament, it was a story about the attack, with all penalties on target, and only one being saved which ultimately resulted in the Wexham Raiders lifting the Soccer 6s trophy as champions!

An entertaining affair, the Soccer 6s is a great example of our ‘sports for all’ philosophy, with all teams taking part except for the As, giving our other boys an opportunity to shine in a highly competitive internal tournament. Half time entertainment saw Mr Watts beat Mr Banks, Mr Hutchings and Ma’am Stratton at a crossbar challenge, while the trophy lift following the game saw our winners bathed in glory! We look forward to next year’s competition, as well as our grand final in the summer term: the CPL Final.
